HEALTH BENEFITS

KUNG-FU & STRESS

Although the media would lead you to believe that violent crime is on the increase, the likelihood of you needing to use your Martial Arts skills against an attacker in the street ( which would be a highly stressful and dangerous situation ) is relatively small, but the self confidence that these skills can give you will benefit you daily.

It is however certain that you will encounter stress in your life on a day to day basis in some or even many forms. The connection between stress and health is well known, and stress can have many serious effects on the body and can trigger or lead to illness.

The regular practice of Kung Fu can prepare your mind and body to cope with every day stress as much as a violent encounter.

KUNG-FU & MEDITATION

A Kung Fu 'form' or 'set' is a combination of techniques and movements, but the performance of the form can also be described as 'moving meditation'.

To correctly perform Kung Fu, your mind, body and spirit must work together in harmony. In performing the Kung Fu forms your movement, concentration and breathing must act together in unison.

The regular practice of forms educates the body and commits the movements and patterns to 'muscle memory'. Practicing the forms while you are concentrating on the movements and breathing correctly allows one to be 'centred', that is to be balanced both internally and in relationship to your environment.
KUNG-FU & THE BODY

As a benefit, the correct practice of Kung Fu combined with resistance exercises and fitness training will result in a healthy body, good posture, core strength and muscle tone.
